College Golf Recruiting
College golf is a great opportunity for golfers who want to continue playing golf while studying at a university level. One of the most important factors in the college golf recruiting process is to have a good resume.
Your resume will be the first impression college coaches will review and decide whether to recruit you to their golf program.
This should be included in your college golf recruiting resume:
• Name
• Address
• Telephone
• Birth date
• Height
• Weight
• Name of High School
• Month and Year of Graduation
• Grade Point Average
• SAT / ACT or TOEFL Scores
• USGA or Handicap Index
• High School Stroke Average
• List some of the tournaments you played and how you did
• Describe yourself as a athlete and person
Your resume should be attached to a short cover letter where you present yourself.
If you have a video of you playing golf you should add it to. Tape your full swing, a three-quarters swing, a couple of pitch shots and your putting stroke. Make sure that you have it taped from several different angles. Avoid to use any type of special affect or music.

College golf coaches’ look at a player’s tournament scoring average, they also look at what type of tournament you played and what level it is. They also will look a lot on your grades to make sure you have what it takes to get accepted to their university.
An average D-1 school on the men’s side is looking for golf players with an average of 75 or better, the better the school the lower average you need to be recruited.
In the women’s side a scoring average of around 84 will be enough to be recruited by some good college golf programs.
Remember to start your college golf recruiting process as early as possible, send an email as well as regular letter to the golf coaches.
Another tip is to not send out mass emails but rather selected emails to schools you really are interested in attending.
